OTMS Opera Custom Awards Interface
OTMS recently developed a new interface to allow posting cash and credit charges from an Opera property management system to be reflected as points earned in the patron’s IGT player account. This interface, known as OTMS Opera Custom Awards, will be extremely useful in many casino resorts using Oracle’s Opera PMS and the IGT player management system. In the future, the project could be modified to support other player management systems.
The initial request for this solution came from a large multi-location casino operator that wanted to include credit for hotel charges in their player loyalty program. They were looking for a solution that would process Opera transactions automatically to generate reports of gaming credit for checkouts each day. The reports would include an amount paid that would be sent as a custom ratings request to IGT to award accounts with points to the customer.
The new interface we designed works using a windows service that actively reads files from a list of directories where Opera export files are dropped via SFTP. In each file, we find records where an IGT account was added to the reservation and the final payment made with an eligible payment method (no credit for comp rooms, etc.), and send the information to the IGT API for the IGT system to award those points to the customer. At the end of each day, the system sends a CSV report via email with all of the records processed for the day. The interface has completed the final testing phases in the customer environment and is now awaiting go-live.
